    ICTF met in Krakow from May 12 to May 14 for their spring conference. Over 110 representatives, from 26 countries, of multinational companies, credit insurers, information providers and banks gathered to discuss subjects as ‘Is Europe Well-Equipped to Fund Innovation?’, ‘Restructuring the Credit Function’, Best Practices Shared Services’, ‘Digitalization’, ‘How is AI changing the landscape?’, ‘Credit Global Forum’. This time also many representatives of the Shared Service Community joined the conference, to learn from the experts in the field.

    ICTF met in Barcelona from October 7 to October 9 for their autumn conference. Nearly 100 representatives from multinational companies, credit insurers, information providers and banks gathered to discuss subjects as ‘Navigating through 2019 Economic Uncertainties’, ‘Credit Excellence in a Changing Environment’, ‘Credit Assessments in the Middle East’, ‘Latest Technical Developments’, ‘The latest on the Mediterranean’, and ‘Trade Credit Global Forum’. Members were enthusiastic about the high level expert attendance and the very interesting discussions held.

    On 25 July 3ACredit, a.k.a. Creditreform China, held a press conference in Shanghai to introduce the latest addition to the group of risk management companies, 3ARating.  3ARating is a newly established, fully licensed and independent rating agency, focusing solely on Chinese businesses.

    Over the last 2 years the company developed a true rating model (reflecting Chinese market specifics) in cooperation with Creditreform Rating AG, based in Neuss, Germany.

    The established rating not only gives substance to a 1-3 year term financial risk view of a Chinese entity but also enables Chinese companies to be able to compare themselves to corporates outside of China.

    ICTF met in Cap d’Ail, France from October 8 to October 10, 2017, for their autumn conference. Despite an air traffic control strike, some 75 members, from 15 countries, managed to attend. Mr. William Bastiaan represented Creditreform International.

    During the meeting many risk related topics were discussed amongst which Global risk outlook, the collection process, IT innovation, Trade Finance alternatives, contract terms, and leadership.

    The Creditreform group recently announced that its revenue had increased from 547 Million Euro in 2013/2014 to 556 Million Euro in 2014/2015.

    In the 167 affiliates some 4'570 people are employed and together they service over 155'000 customers worldwide.

    During 2013/2014 some 1.3 Million collection cases were received, which number had increased to 1.5 Million during 2014/2014.

    On October 19 and 20 the International Credit and Trade Finance association (ICTF) Credit Professionals symposium took place in Berlin (Germany). At this event credit professionals discussed global financial developments, insights were shared and views exchanged.  Creditreform China was one of the participants.

    On October 16 and 17 the annual congress of the Federation of European National Collection Agencies (FENCA) took place in Stockholm (Sweden).  Amongst the 200 participants was Mr. William Bastiaan, Board Director, who represented Creditreform China. His presentation on Debt Collection in China was well received.

    William Bastiaan represented our company during the 25th anniversary convention of Insuring Export Credit Political Risk, as held 24-25 February 2015 in the London Millennium-Mayfair Hotel. Over 250 leading executives from Export Credit Agencies, banks, private insurers, credit insurance brokers and exporters attended this event, during which, in 21 different sessions, trade, export & project finance, credit, political risk and investment risk challenges were discussed.

    An interview of Mr. William Bastiaan, board member of Creditreform China, was published in the December issue of the ‘Creditreform Magazin’, a monthly publication by the publishing group Handelsblatt in cooperation with the Creditreform Group. The magazine has a circulation of 155’000 readers.

    Mr. Bastiaan was asked to comment on items like the Chinese legal system and its merits, the status of credit management as well as collection practices in China.

    Julian Chen and William Bastiaan attended the one and a half day conference of ICTF in Barcelona in May 2014. Julian Chen addressed the audience with a presentation titled “The Do’s and Don’ts for Successful Collections in Asia” and the attendees rewarded him with the highest score a speaker had, since the start of the ICTF conferences.

    FEBIS (Federation of European Business Information Services) gathers twice a year in a major European city. Its 60 members generate a revenue of over Euro 2.5 Billion, more than 180 million business reports and are supported by a workforce of over 20’000 staff [www.febis-online.com].

    This spring they gathered in Rome, Italy. Julian Chen and William Bastiaan attended the event and Julian Chen updated the audience of the whereabouts of the information industry and its legal environment in China.

    The German-Chinese Business Association (DCW), established in 1987, is Germany’s leading non-profit association helping enterprises, organizations, specialists, and executives grow and develop their business relations with China.     During a gathering in Düsseldorf, Julian Chen gave an extensive presentation on “Business Partners in China – Identification, Risk Assessment and Risk management” which was followed by a lively discussion with all participants.

    The yearly German-Chinese Business Day 2013 was held in Cologne, Germany. Some 260 people, foremost from Germany and China, gathered to discuss opportunities and challenges in the bilateral economic relationships. Amongst the speakers were the Chinese Ambassador to Germany, Mr. Chi Mingde, and Prof. Dr. Ulrich Lehner (Henkel AG & Co. KGaA). Topics discussed were a/o “The new Chinese Growth Model”, “The Role of the German Industry in Chinese economical transformation” and “Europe as Investment location and Market for Chinese Enterprises” followed by several break-out symposia.

    At this event Dr. Dieter Suedhofen represented Creditreform International while Mr. William Bastiaan represented Creditreform China.

    Last September the 10th International China Credit and Risk Management Conference was held in Beijing. For a decade now, China Council for Promotion of International Trade (CCPIT) and Creditreform China have been partnering to hold the largest credit related conference in China, maybe even Asia. The events hosted many national and internationals speakers and attendees from over 25 countries (see for more our ‘Consulting’ section).

    FENCA (Federation of European National Collection Associations) World Congress took place this year in Madrid in the Hotel Melia Castilla on October 18, 2012. The conference attracts more than 250 participants from over 40 countries including the Americas, Africa, Asia and Oceania. Mr. Julian Chen was invited as guest speaker at the conference.
